Leader Vs. Shepherd

Yesterday I was listening to a sermon by Steve DeNeff and he brought up something that I haven't thought about in a very long time.

Do you know what affect a shepherd has on it's flock of sheep?  Did you know that if 2 shepherds combine their flock and one shepherd calls his sheep out of the crowd that only his sheep will follow?  Do you know why?

Because of Love and Care.

Sheep know that only their shepherd will take care of them the way they are used to, they are used to the Love and Care that he takes with them.  They are used to his voice.  Sheep follow a person.

Leaders, on the other hand, follow a vision, NOT a person.

I'm desperate to follow a person, I no longer want to try and follow some very unclear vision that's not even some place I want to go.

Also, I want to be a shepherd.  I don't want to be a leader.  I want to be someone who is followed out of love and devotion, not out of fear.
