The End is Near!

I've been hearing that Jesus is calling His followers up to Heaven tomorrow 05-21-11.  I'm so excited,

aren't you?  (let the sarcasm reign)

Harold Camping is the guy who started the rumor that the rapture will happen tomorrow and claims that the BIBLE says is true. He also says that October 21st, 2011 will be the end of the universe.

What I think is interesting about this, isn't the "debate" as to if the claim is true but how people are reacting to it.  Twitter has blown up today about it, check out #iftheworldendsonsaturday or #rapture, people are definitely taking interest.  The interest is mockery. So, what does that say about us?

It makes me concerned about how Jesus followers represent our savior, it makes me concerned for the people who mock this issue.  Don't get me wrong, Jesus clearly tells us that no one will know the time or place, but the rapture and Jesus' 2nd coming ARE REAL and WILL HAPPEN, we just don't know when.  So, to mock the idea of it happening concerns me.  Have Jesus followers really rubbed people the wrong way so much that they are calloused to the idea that God's word is True?

How can I change?  How can I present scripture in a way that peaks curiosity while still clinging to the truth?  How can I live my life to help smooth out the callouses left by so many others?
